Meet Coastal Counseling Associates 

Coastal Counseling Associates provides personalized boutique therapy to children in the Medway, Massachusetts community. Voted Best of Southwest Boston, owner and founder, Alyssa Goff, LMHC, R-DMT, describes the practice as providing “ individualized, relationship-centered care tailored to each client’s goals, strengths, and experiences.” 

Goff operates under the model that “therapy should feel warm, welcoming, and deeply human.” And with each member of the team being dually trained as both licensed therapists and expressive arts therapists Coastal is able to provide a space for children, teens, and families to feel safe, connected, and understood while attaining the therapy they need.

The Story Behind the Brand

Coastal Counseling Associates was founded by Alyssa Goff with the name coming from her love of being by the ocean. Goff says, “the ocean has always felt like home to me. I love mermaids, collecting shells, creating things with my hands, and finding beauty in the little details. Those same things have shaped the way I approach therapy.” She believes that healing doesn’t have to happen in the typical cold and clinical-type of office we’re accustomed to. At Coastal Counseling Associates they instead aim to get results through connection, creativity, and movement. 

Coastal’s mission? To help you find your way back to calmer seas. 

Inside the Photoshoot Experience

My experience working with Alyssa and her team members, Liza and Beth, was nothing but positive energy. Although it was only a short fifteen minute photoshoot, I was pleasantly surprised with how collaborative and encouraging of an environment we were able to create. And this was largely due to the team bringing me into their already collaborative space. 

I worked with Alyssa, Liza, and Beth to showcase themselves in a few different setups. The space itself was very calming with the coastal elements that matched the brand perfectly but also so colorful and inviting for their family-oriented clientele. I was able to help guide them in certain poses but for the most part they were naturals! We captured a variety of poses in our short time together but I especially loved them working with the props in the space and the movement we were able to capture with those.

The Vision & Creative Direction

As with the other Local Business Spotlight series participants, this branding photoshoot was entirely captured in Coastal’s offices located at 82 Holliston Street in Medway, Massachusetts. Walking into the space I instantly understood their vibe and how they want their clients to feel when entering. It’s relaxing with the coastal theme, as described by the business name and brand identity, but it also brings a warmth and playfulness with bright colors in the art materials, musical instruments, scarves, and other play and therapy devices used in their practice. The space is a part of their brand and I knew I needed to capture that literally and in the overall vibe of the shoot.

What We Captured (And Why It Matters)

In this short session with the Coastal team we were able to capture a lot! We started out with a few cute group shots with the whole team, then moved into headshots to give each of them a refresh individually. We ended the session with the women playing with the scarves and musical instrument props. These varying types of photography are all under the brand photography umbrella and are equally important in helping prospective clients to understand a business better.

Families and parents may second guess a practice like this when it involves their children so personally. Putting a face to the name of the therapists they’ll be working with and seeing their professionalism and personality can help to ease stress when signing up with Coastal Counseling Associates and coming in for their first appointments. 

How Coastal Counseling Associates Can Use These Photos

In receiving a final gallery of branding photos it can be challenging to know how to best put them to use. Owner Alyssa expressed that it would be helpful to have photos for their website and social media as they’d had a brand photoshoot a few years prior and were in need of a refresh. 

The photos we captured together are all great for her desired uses. For instance, she can introduce her team members on Instagram or on the about page of their website. They can announce new workshops with their fun group photos in the background. Keeping brand imagery updated will help Coastal Counseling Associates build trust in the Medway, Massachusetts community and set them apart from their competitors.
