Hi! I’m Emma, the photographer, digital artist, and well, creator, behind Emma Lula Creative. Today I spend my days working with women on their businesses and creating art…. but my days weren’t always like this. I’ve been drawn to all things creative since I can remember. I grew up drawing, painting, doing scratch art (remember how fun those were?!).
It wasn’t until high school that I chose a lane. And you guessed it, it was….nail art! I know it may not be what you were expecting, but it’s true! I was so into doing intricate nail designs and wanted to own a nail salon. I even wrote a book on it. I was obsessed.

This passion led me to joining the University of Rhode Island for undergrad as an entrepreneurship major. I didn’t last too long in the business school though, at least not in that capacity (although I of course could have used those skills in my career where it ended up now). It only took one film class to make me switch gears entirely. I became a film major. It was so unlike me to make such a big change like that. But, it ended up being one of the best decisions of my life. And quite possibly the most influential decision that led me to where I am today.
I loved dissecting films and what makes the classics great. I loved learning the ins and outs of a camera – and all the different equipment that goes into a production. I especially loved the collaboration and workshopping that came with every project. And the very limited amount of written tests that were involved wasn’t bad either.😂

In the summer before I graduated I landed a job as production assistant on the X-Men film, The New Mutants with 20th Century Fox. This only ignited my love for more. I continued working on large scale films and tv productions (like Knives Out and SMILF) after I graduated. And although I loved it and still think longingly of that time, my life went in a different direction after a few years.
I started a marketing job at a construction company working as their lead videographer, photographer, and graphic designer. I learned so much there, between developing real estate photography skills, working as a one person film crew for the first time, and learning what goes into marketing on the corporate side of things. I stayed there for five years (crazy).
Since then, I’ve continued my learning journey in every aspect I could. I took photography classes and met some great peers in the industry. I’ve taken online classes including workshops on Adobe, Figma, and the world of art licensing. And I continue to do so to improve more and more. It’s all had a hand in my digital art and work as a Medfield Branding & Portrait Photographer.

One thing I’ve learned about myself? I love to learn! There’s never a time where I’m not taking a class or looking up a new way to improve my skills. And since entering the freelance journey of my career, I’ve learned so much. But, most importantly, I’ve learned what it is I really wish to do with my life. And that’s photography and art.
Calling to the stage, Emma Lula Creative! My photography blends portrait, brand, and fashion with a focus on confidence and real expression, so women can feel like themselves. Alongside photography, my art practice lives largely in the digital space. I like to work with patterns, spot graphics, and graphic design elements. And if you’re following me on Instagram or TikTok, then you’ll know I use my art on many things – coloring books and bookmarks, art licensing, and other custom work. Each piece is rooted in the same intention as my photography: thoughtful, expressive work that feels personal, modern, and accessible.
As a Medfield Branding & Portrait Photographer, I ultimately want Emma Lula Creative to be a safe space for women and femmes to come as they are and leave feeling confident about our work together.

I’m excited to take the next steps in this career and continue to improve Emma Lula Creative and make it a success. And I’m happy for this blog to add to that. I’m excited to share my voice on different subjects , give you a behind the scenes look at my world, and give educational tips where needed.
